Voices from the border

‘Voices from the border’ seeks to demystify the bitter and negative representation of border communities within Mexico and the United States through its own interpreters, who have answered the following question: how do you experience the border and what does it represent for you?

With that simple question, a series of narratives and images are merged, which contrast with fictions created by misinformation, and influence policies that have an impact over the lives of those who reside in the border communities.

Thankfully, the voices from the border are aware that their daily life is led and enjoyed as a single community, in which gastronomy and crafts, formal businesses and mobile ones, as well as daytime trips with nighttime fun converge.

In other words, it is worth reflecting on what makes the border between Mexico and the United States unique. A place in which 26 million people coexist, whose voices intertwine daily ups and downs with a communal spirit.

The community of both Nogales [or ambos Nogales] is the community in which ‘Voices from the Border’ is interpreted. This area is a clear example in which one community breathes. Where the coming and going back and forth produces a true binational identity.
